The other post in this forum got me thinking. What are the color designations for each service in your area. Mine are as follows:

Fire/EMS = Red
Police = Red/Blue
Road Workers = Orange
Tow Trucks = Red or Orange

I've heard of people using green or even purple. What's it like for you?

Fire/EMS - Red, Red/White
Police - Blue, Blue/Red
Road Crew - Amber
Tow Trucks - Red
Volunteer FF/EMS (on POV) - Green

No wonder no one gets out of our way. They all think we're a tow truck!

Fire/EMS - red
Police - red and blue
Tow trucks - amber
Utility/construction vehicles - amber
Private security - amber
Volunteer POVs - none

The amber lights are just for warning while parked...they're not generally supposed to be used while driving unless the vehicle presents a traffic hazard (low speed, etc.).

Emergency vehicles do use amber and clear lights in conjunction with the red or red/blue, but those are considered secondary. In fact, technically, emergency vehicles only HAVE to display a single, solid red light visible from the front per the vehicle code. All the strobes, rotators, wig-wags and others are secondary, non-required lights.

EMS / Fire Vehicles - Red/White
(All Volunteers fall under the 'Emergency Vehicle' Designation if they choose to run lights and sirens...so also Red/White)

Police - Red / White / Blue
Utility or Service - Amber

In Wisconsin, Blue is designated ONLY for Police and BIG fines if caught using it.
No other colors such as green are allowed.
