FDNY firefighters make atleast $15,000 more a year than a medic.

Some make $30,000 a year more.

Your EMT-B doesn't matter anymore since you're a medic so don't list it.

Generally the county/city government's website will have all the information of need about their EMS service and careers there.

I worked for Charleston County EMS back in '07-'08, and the starting was $38k/yr for the first six months (when you promote to Crew Chief as a medic), then it was $45k up to $68k after ten years IIRC. I think the starting is now $39k. The Charleston City firefighters make $42,001, so they're more or less equal with CCEMS medics.

I looked at this document from the City of Charleston - they don't pay wery well by my standards - the Assistant Fire Chiefs only make $79,050.92 base. I make more than that with not even five years OTJ. Our rookies make as much as their Lieutenants. A ten year medic makes more than a City of Charleston Lieutenant, and some Captains as well. Comparatively, the medic salaries are decent for that region. The Deep South is known for not paying well in general. This document doesn't say how much time each employee has OTJ, though.

Anyway, the Charleston County Hiring Page:

$39,484 starting salary

Edit:The starting FF salary is actually $26,001. That's practically welfare wages. The medics do much better, but $40-$45k as a starting salary isn't worth it to me unless the step increases are 7-10% per year plus COLA's and a pension multiplier north of 2.5% @ 25 years. With OT, I basically made as much as their Fire Chief last year. Gotta love the South.
