I'm (hopefully) finishing up and EMT-B con-ed course soon and will sit for the North Carolina certification shortly afterward. And since my wife and I are looking at property in the Randolph, Chatham, Moore, Montgomery Co. area, I'm wondering if anyone has info, feedback, or advice on the County EMS agencies serving these areas, how I might stand out from the crowd on my application, and what the working conditions/company cultures are like?
I'm obviously not concerned about money (I would have stayed in IT if that were true
) and just want to serve for a change. But company culture and management philosophy can really make a big difference in job satisfaction. One of the best instructors we had during the course works for one of these counties, but it would be very naive to think he was typical of the caliber of employee (I can hope, though).
