Because I really don't care if people know what I make, let's put it this way. With working a good amount of overtime, including pay periods with 120 hours(which is 3 weeks worth of 40 hours in 2 weeks), and claiming single 0 on my taxes with a wife and daughter of my own, I made a little above...
I work for a private service but our County does not use digital dispatching. A structure fire would go out as such, for lets say Engine 30's first due: D= Dispatcher
D: Engine 30, Rescue 30, Engine 2, Engine 8, Rescue 8, Truck 1, Air 22, Car 101 respond to 123 ABC street for residential...
Ours is based basically so that no matter what kind of truck you work you basically make the same at the end of the year, thats because we have 9, 12, 14 and 24 hour trucks with the ability to pick up OT on any of them.
14.56/hr on a 12/hr truck. Slightly under 10.00/hr on a 24 hour truck. Granted this is with a pay raise, started at 14.29/hr on a 12 hour truck and it was something like 9.75/hr for a 24 hour. AEMT in a very large local company.
So they would be making people test NREMT 4 times? That's frankly just stupid. When I was in school, the state required that we test NREMT-B then turn around at the end of the AEMT and test for NRAEMT. So I've already tested NREMT twice, and should I decide to get my medic that will be a third...
I have not moved as of yet. Still looking around, its rather difficult as most places are volunteer without having to go the paid fire route. Best bet is probably going to be AMR whenever they decide to hire again.
Meh, Dekalb is in the news for one thing or the other everyday. So im sure their not too worried about it. Our company looked at the contract bid and it was too much money just go get in the county and then they wanted the company buy the FD lp15s for every engine in the county.
AMR won't let EMT, or I'85 or AEMTs tech 911 calls. The Paramedic is required to tech all calls if it generates through the 911 system, and yes even if it is the literal stubbed toe at 3am. My company is the same way, though we don't hire EMTs, we have been doing it for about 2-3 years and to...
Grady is DOE about pay, their not really on a set scale. They do have night and weekend diffs, but you WILL run your a** off. In the last 2 weeks of December of '13, talking with a Grady medic their were right at 138,000-139,000 calls for the year. Granted my company was right 130,000 so I know...
We don't charge for refusals or cancellations, even though for our refusals we take vitals and take basic info(name, dob, etc). If we don't transport, the patient doesn't get a bill.
I work for a private 3rd service, so everything is about paperwork.
You don't have to worry about pain meds at the EMT-B level, with the exception of a few states here and their. A lot of places are starting to get to where they just give them the meds as long as their is no blatant or obvious reason not to.
It really depends on the specific course that is being taught. We have an in house "CCT" class, you'll understand why that is in quote in a minute. We've had the classes available for 2-3 years now but their has only been 3 classes with no other classes being taught in the near future. I'm not...
Our target on scene time is 10 minutes, whether trauma or medical. Of course it's really more of a suggestion but that's what all the big wigs around here say. We can always find a reason or two for being delayed on scene.
Were issued a medium weight jacket that doesnt do a whole lot for keeping you warm. Were also issued a rain jacket with matching pants thats good for rain and nothing else, no insulation or anything. Anything else you can buy once a year when they send out the memo saying their available.
Ill take a picture of mine and post it sometime tomorrow. Im on the truck with just my phone today and tomorrow and work 12 hour nights.
Well nevermind, just looked ours is a class 2 vest. Ill still post it if youd like.
Were required to wear ANSI approved high-vis vest as well, it is company provided with the company name on the lower part of the back of the vest. We are not issued turnouts or anything.
