Yea I've never missed with a butterfly and being a paramedic student I need the confidence lol. The fire dept where I do my ride time carries both strait and butterflies. I'm sure once my confidence gets up I start using straits more and more but as for now if the medics I ride with don't stop...

So I was just wondering who prefers using butterfly caths vs strait caths. I know if you need to go large bore for trauma say either 16 or 14 you can't do butterflies. So what is your preference and why do you prefer the one over the other?

500 here in IL. Divided between ER, Ambulance, and specialty clinic stuff IE OR,OB, Cath lab.

So far almost done with 2nd semester. We have ACLS and PHTLS out of the way. I've been keeping a steady 89% in class. Not what I want but I am passing lol.

Plan on not having a life lol. If you can get your hands on a ACLS book and PHTLS and PALS and read them before hand. So far we've done ACLS and PHTLS in my class and thank god their over. Also like others have said read up on pharmacology and cardiology.
