Aha of course you decide to go to the dreaded New Mexico. Go to Blakes Lottaburger, surprisingly good regional fast food.

They were pretty easy to deal with and the temporary lasts a while. Testing in Santa Fe and Roswell I believe.

I picked up a shift in El Paso, TX, and then I drove into New Mexico to get fingerprinted. I am very stubborn and don't like trying to new things like snail mailing fingerprints. It's either electronic or not at all! Haha, just kidding... I want some licenses in states like Missouri, but I am dragging butt on it because I don't want to figure out fingerprinting by card and snail mailing it. XD I really really really hate that I can't just go to my local fingerprint shop and just get it done electronically. I was able to do Colorado and Texas via California, but it won't let me do things like Missouri or New Mexico. I had 3 days total off in El Paso so I figured I'd just make a short trip one of those days.

My company pays for everything. Like when I get this New Mexico license, I can pick-up shifts there. They'll pay for my Uber, rental, flight, hotel, gas, and $50/day for food between shifts. When I leave my house to go to the airport, I clock in. When I get to the hotel, I clock out. These shifts I pickup are overtime on top of it. Sometimes they pay decent bonuses like $250-$1,000 to pick-up these shifts. I love traveling and exploring. I have no significant other or kids. More licenses means more bonuses, overtime, and travel for me. It's a no brainer for me. :]

Wow who do you work for? I am off 5 days a week, and I can trade shifts; so I can work Sunday Monday, week 1, and Friday Saturday week 2, and have 10 days off and use no leave to do it.
Even though I am married I am bored, and my wife doesn't mind when I leave. LOL

I totally forgot to update this post.

They do tests in Santa Fe, Clovis, and Las Cruces. I flew in to El Paso, TX and drove up North to Las Cruces. It was about a 45 minute drive. If you want to go to Clovis, fly into Lubbock, TX or Albuquerque, NM for Santa Fe.

The test was 100 questions and multiple choice on a scantron. It seemed very informal like a mom and pop shop to me, lol. There was only one lady by herself in the Las Cruces office. She told me that the building used to be lawyer offices I think? She escorted me to an office where I took the test in peace.

The questions were generic paramedic questions. The content would be stuff you should knew through taking ACLS, PALS, ITLS, PHTLS, etc. There were also med math question for both IV push drugs and drips. Examples (not actual test questions I hope... I am intentionally trying to make it up)

You have a 20 kg patient in cardiac arrest. Your standing orders are 0.01 mg/kg and your epinephrine preload is 0.1 mg/ml. How many ml are you going to give the patient?

Your adult patient is seizing. Medical direction has given you orders to administer 2 mg Midazolam. Your vial is 5 mg/ml. How many ml will you give?

You are transporting a hypotensive septic patient. You've elected to administer 4 mcg/min Levophed. Your Levophed bag is 8 mg/250 ml. You're using a micro drip set, 60 gtt = 1 ml, how many gtt/min will you give?
It had pictures of ECGs. It asked you for your interpretation and treatment plan.

What is your interpretation of this ECG?

What's your treatment plan?

The patient has gone into cardiac arrest. What are you going to do?

It was kind of like that. I'm trying to simulate it as best as I can.

It's not a hard test at all. I think if you are fresh from paramedic school or have experience, you won't find it difficult at all. I wouldn't stress out too much.
