I transitioned out of public safety in 2012 after spending six years at a police department in Tennessee. I went to medical school and am finishing my last year of emergency medicine residency. I still feel like a cop pretending to be a doctor most days. I love pre-hospital medicine and I am hoping to get involved with a tactical team for medical support once we get moved next summer. I appreciate all you who do the job day in/out. Pursuing medicine has been a great experience but I'd be lying if I said I don't miss police/fire/EMS from time to time. Some of the best folks I've ever had the pleasure to work with.

Best regards

that's an awesome transition. congrats on the transition.

If you enjoy EM, and the EMS side of thing, look at working as a medical director; there are several fellowships out there, and you can def get involved in tactical medicine. They might even let you train with the team ;)

Thanks, I would definitely like to look into it once I get my boards out of the way and get settled in.
