Hello,
Going to be starting my EMT class in 2 weeks. I have to pass it, as a part-time firefighter/emt job is on the line! ( have to pass it to get paid and for the job, they are also paying for it.)

Just was wondering what materials (notebooks, folders etc) everyone got for class.
Also How did everyone prepare these materials for class? ( breaking note books by chapter or lessons etc)

Simple question, which I think a lot of new emt's may have on there mind, as I know a lot goes into the course. Just like to be prepared!

Thanks-

Materials I used: a pencil/pen, spiral bound single subject notebook, yellow highlighter. All notes were in the same book and not really divided up. Flash cards don’t work for me.

Thank you,
How about pre studying for class. I was thinking about going to anatomy chapter and writing out the definitions for things in a definition notebook?

I am on week two of my EMT-B class and I agree with a pen/pencil, notebook, and highlighter. I also bought a stethoscope. I am using flash cards and they seem to work well for me. I would recommend quizlet.com to help you study.

In our class, we took a test to see which way we learn best and I am a predominantly visual, with some kinesthetic. I have found it beneficial to take notes while reading and then rewrite my notes.

As far as pre-studying goes, I just quickly read the anatomy chapter to get a quick refresher.

Hope this helps :)

It does, I should have prefaced I took emt 4 years ago, and let it lapse. SO I have to take it all over again so I can become a paid firefighter/emt for a town near me.
I remember having 2 notebooks one was like for home notes (reading/ definitions) and one for in class notes as they varied.
Just anxious about this one!
