Priority One Los Angeles Hiring Process
Did anybody go through the Priority One hiring process?
I checked the web page and it seems that it takes a lot of steps to get hired. But I really like what I read about this company. Seems like a good place to work. Also does anybody know how much they pay is for EMT. I read they only pay 14 hours out of 24. I would appreciate any input. Thanks. |

Everything on that website is a lie. The hiring process consists of a written test and very simple interview. If you have your county card, you are pretty much guaranteed at job.
Do a search about Priority One on this forum. The place is not an EMS organization, FYI. It is a strictly non-emergency IFT company where you will be paid low wages and treated like dirt by management. -an ex-P1 employee, very happily separated |

Wow... I worked for one of those places once too. Glad to know they aren't just a Philly thing.

The only place where Priority One does (or did) is Stockton, Ca. That is if they still have a transport contract with Stockton Fire. Prior to AMR getting an exclusive contract for most of San Joaquin County, P1 did do 911, with their own primary response zones... just like every other company that paid their fees to the County. When I worked in that County, P1 was not well regarded... I left SJ County (never worked for P1 there) before that whole exclusive 911 contract fight got started.
If you want to follow up on that aspect, I'm sure the RFP pdf files are still available somewhere... on the net. |

Like daedalus said, everything on that site is a steaming pile of total BS.
I work for P1, and my hiring process consisted of taking an absurd written test followed with an "interview" which was more like an orientation to the company rather than a formal employment interview. P1 is not an EMS service. It is one of the many bottom-feeding transfer companies lurking the streets of LA county looking to cash in on the Medicare/Medicaid/Kaiser racket. As an EMT you only get paid 14 out of the 24 hours you work, and are treated like Kleenex by the unqualified management staff. Don't waste your time.
