EMS Dept. Training
I am assist our training officer in our monthly trainings. I am trying to come up with some "new" or "different" ideas this year to change things up. What does your agnecy do for EMS training?
Thank you!

We did some MCI training at my previous place of employment. Took a bunch of teddy bears, taped a note card to them saying what their vitals were, age, and condition, and gave everyone triage tags and told them to triage as many as they could in 2 minutes. You need to get creative. One can only do so many airway classes. Make it interesting and hands on. Think of the skills that people in your area don't get to use very much, and play on those.

one agency I used to work for had a training matrix, ie january-cardiology feb- resp, march-trauma. for each month they would bring in an area expert to review interesting calls from the year before and talk about all the treatment options from EMS to in hospital and how our decisions affect it all. I found that it was really interesting and most people liked having a subject specialist review any cool calls they had.

At my agency we do all sorts of fun things. For special operations, we're going to throw a rope and rappel down the side of our building. We also do WMD, but our instructor hasn't told us what we're doing for that. He said it's going to be really fun.
