I was looking through some of the recent discussions on this forum, and I noticed that like all of EMS and medicine, the flight orientation process seems to be pretty different at different places. I'm curious for those flight providers on this forum, what was your orientation process at your...
This thread is building off of the below comment on another thread:
I took an odd route, and am going through paramedic school now (after having worked as an RN for a little while, which I still do). I'm lucky in that I've been able to see the progression of cases as time goes one.
Many of...
I'm trying to wrap my head around one of the scenarios we recently did in medic school, so I figured I'd run it by everybody here (I'll try to remember it the best I can. It was a few days ago so I can't remember a lot of the information):
Dispatched for an explosion at a building. Upon...
Hi all!
So as some of you know, I originally wanted to do EMS full time after nursing school (1 more year until that darn BSN! :P), and do nursing part time. However, I've been working as a Basic this summer, and I've decided that even at the paramedic level (obviously I have no experience...
I saw the name of a medication the other day (it was a joke, clearly) that was "prescribed for everything." It had a name that looked correct as far as medication names go, and I'm trying to find the name of it. I've seen it posted on here before, but I can't find it. I know it's vague, but...
So here I am, on my winter break from nursing school, studying like a nerd <_<
I was exploring online, and I saw in a forum (allnurses.com or similar) that the use of the Homan sign for diagnosis (I use that word loosely, as it only occurs in something like 30-50% of cases) of DVT can cause...
Hi all,
I have a quick question. I heard the other day that PEA can show as normal sinus rhythm on an EKG, with no actual cardiac output. I've done some research, but can anybody lead me towards any information on this? Is there a name for the condition? Is it even possible?
Thanks!
E.
Hey all!
I looked through the site a bit, and didn't really come up on a solid answer :glare:
I did a ride-along/observation with LifeFlight out of Allegheny General Hospital while I was in PA for the summer, and I absolutely fell in love with it. Needless to say, I changed my career path...
So here's a question: how many scientific papers does it take to convince you that something is legitimate and something that should be considered in treatment?
I’ve noticed through reading this forum that some of the questions posted are in regards to what to do before, during, and after EMT-Basic class. All of these questions are perfectly reasonable (and it’s good that they’re being asked!), but I think it would be helpful if I wrote out some...
I'm trying to search for good articles or literature on why it's important to check the BGL of a TBI or head injury patient. I did some searching, but couldn't find anything
I'm pretty sure the answer's in my A&P book, but I'm lending that to somebody right now :glare:
Even so, I'd...
I know somebody mentioned this in another thread, and that it's been mentioned before, but considering what went on recently, I thought I'd bring it up again.
I think, and I'm sure many others would agree with me, that there should be a way that the forum staff "confirm" or "validate" that...
Which should I read first? Is one going to give me a better foundation for the other?

Got my grades earlier today. Passed first year of nursing school and moving on to my second. 3 more years until I finish my BSN B)
Obviously nothing major, but just thought I'd throw it out there :P
Now off to change my signature...
1) Get involved in EMS Policy making at a national or state level?
I'm seriously considering trying to get involved in policy making at the state, and then possibly, the national level. As of now, I'm in college to finish my BSN degree, after which I'll obviously be taking my NCLEX to become...
Anybody use it before? Is it a reliable site to be learning about stuff from? I'm always looking to educate myself and this looks like it could be helpful, but I want to make sure I'm getting the right information.
It was created in 2006 and "has not undergone peer review or rigorous...
I ran across this recently. Does anybody have any information on it, like when it will be out and whether it will be available to the public?

Hi all,
Ok, so this is probably a stupid question, but I figure I'll ask anyways. After all, there are no stupid question! (Only stupid people :P)
Anyways, I'm reading up on oxygen and the use of it, physiology of it, etc.. My question is, is it appropriate to put that education to use as a...
