NRP vs EMT-P

I just noticed that there are more than a few Nationally Registered Paramedics that have to use the old EMT-Paramedic label if they want to post their training level.

I'm just sayin'.... ;)

Good point. What levels of training would you suggest?

"Paramedic" "EMT-I" "AEMT" "EMT" instead of EMT-P since not everyone will be NRP if their state doesn't do NR. Some states will not be ending Intermediate.

Also, consider "Education" instead of "Training." Speaking toward the goals, right?

Certs like or CCP FP-C WEMT etc... you can quickly end up with a very very long list of certs...
Users could put those things in their custom title or in their occupation/about me in their profile (that is where you will find my RN CCRN)

I like the comment about changing the label to "education." You're suggesting the following options be available:

MFR
EMT
AEMT
Paramedic

Look good?

Because the site is primarily geared toward EMS stuff, why not make the "education" read as "EMS Education"??? If we use an "other" then make that a "fill-in" so that dual (or more) licenses can be displayed. Also, if we have a separate certificates/licenses section, we could simply thrown in the whole alphabet soup stuff. Since a lot of us have education other than EMS, we might want to consider having a section where we can list that easily too. That could simply be a list AAS, AS, AA, ADN, BS, BA, BSN, MS, MA, PhD, EdD, MD, DO. It probably doesn't need to be visible on any normal forum post.

The good news is I clicked a few buttons and took care of everything. The bad news is that the training field was erased and I can't re-add it.

Give me some time to work out the details.

Okay, I think I fixed it.

Making the label "EMS Education" is too long, though I appreciate the suggestion. There isn't an option for an "Other" field that can be filled in. I like that you include it in your signature, as do I.

Just like nurses with the marathon length of alphabet soup after their names!

Hmmm perhaps you are going for the pissing match, in which case we can compare 40 or 80 hour merit badges to nursing certifications (some EMS alphabet soup are comparable).

Or we could stick to my point which is avoid any alphabet soup. The #1 RN forum on the net does NOT let users put the alphabet soup like

Supernursy MSN BSN AS RN CCRN-CSC-CMC CEN CFRN RN-BC VA-BC Paramedic WEMT

in their user title. They only allow highest academic degree, license, and, as a non-nursing bonus, EMS LEVEL. So the above is simply:

Supernursy, MSN, RN, Paramedic

Here we should use:
Docmedic, DO, Paramedic

Anyone can put what they want in their signature...

They allow the highest NURSING degree, nursing license/cert, and EMS license/cert level. If they allowed highest degree, I'd have: BS, ADN, RN, EMT-P but I might just have to explain that my BS isn't in nursing... But that degree is exactly why for me, an ADN or BSN program would have been a 2 year program with very little difference between them as far as actual content is concerned.

Ya I like this idea, maybe we could also add a couple other (but more rare) EMS specific titles? eg flight nurses and EMS Medical Directors (MD/DO). Maybe its not necessary since we don't get many on here, just an idea... There are also Aeromedical PA-C's, but those dudes are pretty rare...
