I had heard there was a minimum 4 calls that need to be run for leasing the ambulance. That being said on a 24 you would need to run in upwards of 12 calls every shift to come even close to making the same amount as an hourly 24 at $12-13 an hour. If it's a slow night and you run 5-6 calls...

A portable hoyer lift that can be stored inside the rig. So when the call comes in at 3am and a lift assist is non-existant you can move that 400lb pt without demolishing your back.

As an employee for Ambulnz I can attest to a considerable amount of changes being made in rapid succession to all three companies. I'm not exactly sure how the 72k annual income is achievable as corporate has not stated to us any policy or procedure on the matter. So that does remain to be seen...

Thank you all for the feedback. I made what I thought at the time was the right call but I still had the feeling that I could have done something different that could of improved the outcome. This is definitely a call I'm going to remember. Except next time I'm going to better prepared for it...

A higher level of care than we are, a BLS crew of 2 EMTs? Yes absolutely. in any case it isnt your typical shoebox urgent care. Its closer to a community hospital than an urgent care.

My partner was unfamiliar with the area and stopping to check Google maps (our rigs aren't equipped with reliable GPS systems) to find the nearest ED was out of the question in my mind. Being that we we're 3-4 minutes out I figured better to get the pt to a higher level of care than delay care...

BGL was 118 about an hour prior to us arriving on scene according to the SNF. I suppose I should of asked them to check it again in front of me. We decided not to divert to the ER or call for ALS on route as we we're only about 3-4 minutes out and the nearest ER was about 8 minutes out.
