    Paramedic pay in WA?

I made 12/hr on a 24hr shift and 17/hr on an 8hr shift at AMR with 4 years experience as a paramedic and a bachelor's degree... Private companies don't pay **** here. Fire made 35/hr on a 24hr shift when I was making 12...

    Working in St.Bernard Parish.,LA

Last time I worked in that area Acadian Ambulance was the contracted service provider for St Bernard Parish. They have a station in Mureaux. The FD does some first response to certain calls like arrests, overdoses, etc. But they're all BLS level and don't ever get involved in the treatment...

New Orleans EMS A&E show! *Video*

New Orleans EMS provides all the 911 responses for the city of New Orleans. Period. They cover their entire city. Other cities kind of fuse on with them, but it's a completely different parish. Metairie boarders New Orleans to the NorthWest and they use East Jefferson Hospital EMS, Gretna and...

    burning hatred for transfers

Alright, maybe burning hatred was a bit strong to explain it haha. I don't compromise patient care, I still sit there on the bench seat for every transfer and talk to them, about their life, grandchildren etc. etc. If they need cardiac monitoring, I don't just ignore that because I dont want to...

    burning hatred for transfers

How many of you guys share a burning hatred for transfers? I've been an emt for about a year and a half, and a paramedic for about 8 months. I work for a company who does about 70% bls transfers, and 30% nursing home "emergencies" (maybe 5% 911 roll overs) ... we don't have any 911 contracts in...

    Online medic school?

That "medic mill" you speak of (TEEX 10 week EMT-P) prepared me adequately. You just have to be more proactive there than you would at a 1 year program ... it all depends on the person, and if your willing to put in some extra effort. Have you ever met someone from a so called medic mill anyway?

First interview tomorrow ... what to expect?

Hey, I have my first EMT interview tomorrow ... I am interviewing for an EMT-B position; however, I have completed the classroom portion of my paramedic school, and just have about 300 clinical hours left to do before I test for NREMT-P. What should I expect? The ambulance service is a huge...

    Vest

Hey, I'm a ski patroller in Washington State. We use a Swizler (ugh, I can never spell it ... Its swizler or swishler, swizer or something weird like that - it will show up in goggle at the top when you got it right) vest. They are awesome - they carry our chair evac rope in the back, it uses...

Applying for an EMT job in a new city ...

I completed my EMT-P class last month, and I'm doing my clinicals in a new city I just moved to. I want to apply for an EMT-B job while doing my clinicals; however, I don't know the area at all - should I apply now, and learn the area later, or learn the area before applying? Thanks

Hey, I just wanted to give everyone an update. I did go through, and register for an EMT-B class in Louisiana, where you can register for the class if your an incoming senior in good academic standing from what I understand. The course was 2 months long, and started with 23 people; as the...

Wish me luck!!! I start my class tomorrow!!!!

I doubt anyone is going to notice you went to the Dentist, much less that your brushed your teeth 27 times .... don't brush them too often, if you haven't done that as a "regular" routine, or else your gums are going to hurt/bleed like hell. Polishing your stethoscope for the first day of class...

    ALS Sleepover

10 hours is a full shift where I'm at. I talked to about 4 paramedics today, and none of them said they would have a problem with a student trying to get a little sleep; as long as there wasn't something completely obvious, and a students responsibility to have done.

EMT-B courses for people under 18

I'm sorry, I ment that as, once I receive a valid EMT B cert. I would start working. As in it's already lined up now, and just waiting on the cert.
