Concurrent EMT-B/IV cert & IV approval

I did some more research and found some IV classes at a separate college that will start in January instead of March, so that should help because I'll have my state license by then!

Concurrent EMT-B/IV cert & IV approval

My question today is twofold. First of all, I know how essential it is to be IV certified when looking for your first EMT-B job and that it really gives you a leg up on the other candidates. I am taking my EMT-B class in the fall, and then in the spring, the IV certification class goes from...

How will traffic incidents hurt me?

I found this for AMR, which is the primary 911-ambulance service in my area (first page covers driving record): http://www.mendocinocountyduilawyer.com/pdf/AMREmplPol.pdf It seems that even if my violations were in the past 36 months, I would still be eligible for hire (probably just not...

How will traffic incidents hurt me?

How long will the points last? Is it 2 lifetime points or 2 points in a certain number of years?

How will traffic incidents hurt me?

I appreciate the information! Fortunately, no one was injured in the accident I was in. My question was moreso referring to the employment consequences based off my driving record though!

How will traffic incidents hurt me?

I'm going to be starting an EMT program in the fall, and here's what I'm worried about: -About two months after I got my license (16 y/o), I got in a car accident at a 4 way intersection that had no stop lights or stop signs. Later, after the accident, the city put up stop signs :P. Despite the...

    Umbilical Cord

Hm, do you wait for it to start pulsating or stop pulsating?

    CE/Teaching

Does anyone from Colorado (or who knows the Colorado requirements well) tell me about where/how continuing education works? I found this list of requirements if that helps: https://www.colorado.gov/pacific/sites/default/files/EMTS_Continuing-Education-Guidelines.pdf Also, as I go through school...

Can I live off of 29,000 a year

It definitely depends on where you live. I know some (single) people in my hometown (Colorado Springs), who live with a roommate or two on 20,000 a year. It's certainly not impossible to live on 29K!

    EMT - B Isn't this abnormal 3 1/2 months

The one I'm going to take is 3x a week, about 4 hours a night for a semester, so if mine is anything to go by, yours sounds pretty standard!

    Umbilical Cord

Not sure if this is the best forum section for this, so please feel free to move it, but I have a question about emergency childbirth. A lot of mothers and doctors think there are benefits to not instantly clamping and cutting the umbilical cord. I haven't done enough research on the issue to...

    Bachelor's Degree, then EMT-B?

Makes sense! I had just read that sometimes getting your foot in the door (that first job with no EMS experience) can be tricky, so I was wondering if the Bachelor's would help! Do you know if most paramedic programs require you to work for awhile as an EMT before starting the program? Would you...

    Bachelor's Degree, then EMT-B?

I appreciate your input! I've definitely considered that I have other options with a Bachelor's, but a lot of factors have led to me wanting to hold a career in emergency medicine. Moving on to being a paramedic is a career step I'll certainly take, and I'd like to get certifications in critical...

What does your significant other do?

He's a full-time Electrical Engineering student. Polar opposite professions, but we both understand how hard the other person is going to have to work!
