I like it. I did not have to reset my password though. Does that mean I am in some way screwed up???

You're saying that your password just randomly worked? It doesn't even transfer passwords. That has me worried.

For those who's old password works, make sure you poke around a little, make sure you can get into your User CP, make sure all of your settings (including times, PM settings, Email settings, etc) are all correct.

If you have any questions please feel free to post.

If you're unable to post, reset your password as previously mentioned. If you're still having problems, send an email to moderators@emtlife.com.

Ive not had any problems except when I try to insert an image via off-site image hosting it does not display the image, just gives a link to the image.

example:
This is supposed to be a dancing baby- this is what I get for output-

http://www.geocities.com/waterdoggette/Icons/babydance.GIF

and I use the [img] tags as described in the editing help section.

I can also see the image, but I think Captain Panic is reffering about the "baby" is supposed to be dancing. Captain Panic is the image a "gif" or "jpg"? If it is not a "gif" then re-name the ext as a .gif

CaptainPanic
12-11-2005, 10:02 PM
Dont worry - that dancing baby is not a part of this site it is hosted off-site. And I agree when a forum moves its like having something missing, and Ive noticed that for a while things are tense as everyone gets used to the new home but usally goes away after a month or two. Hopefully we can beat the odds. C'mon everybody lets sing Kumbayah!!

I miss the smilies in the posting window. Firehouse.com has them, so how do we get them??

Same thing with the signature editing box. How do we make text larger or smaller???

Also, how am I a "deputy Chief" at 2600+ posts??? Shouldn't I be Fire Commish or Mayor???

Jon

MedicPrincess
12-12-2005, 07:51 AM
Ok, Jon, I don't think your signature needs to be any bigger

Also, you have to go into User CP ---->Options----> Enhanced Options (scroll all the way to the bottom)-----> Enable Full WSYWHIG (or whatever the letters are) options

Then you get all the editing stuff even smilies here in the box.

The link to reset my password did not work, so I guess it is a good thing that I did not have to. It does not "feel" the same, so the level of comfor tthat was starting to build is not there anymore. I guess my quirks are getting the best of me, but it feels like I might as well be on FH, not the more quaint atmosphere of EMTlife that I was enjoying.

Well I have well over 200+ smileys to use at my dispense. Plus alot of them are humorous such as Donny the Dancing Baby.... and if MAtt wants the smileys, all he has to is ask. Plus they are of the same smileys which we had before. But alot more variety.

Heres some examples: http://www.geocities.com/waterdoggette/Icons/chair.gif http://www.geocities.com/waterdoggette/Icons/tongue09.gif http://www.geocities.com/waterdoggette/Icons/whistle.gifhttp://www.geocities.com/waterdoggette/Icons/yahoo.gif

I believe that has something to do with the way the software tracks your IP address. If you had no problems logging back in, I wouldn't worry about it.

On the old forum, we were able to add attachments. Are we still able to do that???

Yes, but it's not as obvious:

To attach a file to a new post, simply click the button at the bottom of the post composition page, and locate the file that you want to attach from your local hard drive. [B]I believe it's actually the "Manage Attachments" button.

Only certain types of files may be attached: these are the valid file extensions for files to be attached to this forum: bmp doc gif jpe jpeg jpg pdf png psd txt zip.

After posting, the attachment will show up in the body of your message. To view the contents of the attachment (if it is not already displayed) simply click the filename link that appears next to the attachment icon images_pb/attach/attach.gif.

Good suggestion, but I'm not sure there is any way to actually do it. As you read each thread it should be marked read. You can "view new posts" which will show you the posts that you haven't viewed. I know the system isn't always accurate, but I think it's the best we've got.

Jon
06-22-2006, 10:03 AM
"View new posts" works great, until I have to go do something else and don't get back until half an hour later... if I leave the site, it thinks I've read all of them.

MMiz
06-22-2006, 10:16 AM
Clicking this link (http://www.emtlife.com/search.php?do=getdaily) will give you the day's new posts. That sometimes helps when I have to run off in the middle of reading new posts.

Matt, you may want to consider installing this add-on feature: http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=96522

Aside from putting the number of unread posts in the welcome area, it adds an option you can set so that when a person clicks the New Posts link, not only will it return links to posts that have been updated (replied to) since that person's last visit, but it will also include links to threads that haven't been updated since the person's last visit, but at the time of that person's last visit, still had new replies that weren't read yet. I think this is what Jon wants.

I have been using this add-on feature on my own board at www.jjr512.com (http://www.jjr512.com) for a long time and it's great. :)

After a brief discussion among the CL's, we have done just that. All threads related to the NREMT have been moved to a new forum dedicated to the NREMT.

Let us know if you have any other suggestions about how to improve this place.
