I have bought two different Littmann Cardiologist II SE for $80 each, delivered on E-BAY. MD students sell them alot year round.

I was a total whacker, hence my ID, and I lived on ebay. I spent thousands - possibly tens of thousands of dollars on ebay from 98-now. Keep in mind that included five vintage ambulances, so it's not like I have ten billion boxes of bandaids. I've found that stupid people make the best sellers. I bought a Littman 4400 that costs over 520 in the Life Assist Catalog, for a wopping 9.99. Brand new, factory sealed, still works after 5 years of heavy use. I bid on a "Lot of Single Head Scopes, New" for 4.99. I expected a case of nurse scopes, like dollar store scopes. But it was a factory sealed box of Littman Selects that go for about 40 bucks a pop.

I do  :D
When I went looking for a scope, I was told Littman was the best. I went to ebay; and bought a Littman Classic II series, for 14$ shipped. the guy said it was his sons who was going to be an EMT; but decided not to before he even used the scope. It was still in fedex wrappers from um, some EMS stuff dealer. He had no clue; I did. I won! :P I tihnk it's an $80 scope; I got it for $14 and am definately happy with it. I have bad ears, couldn't hear anything on the "rentascope" my instructor gave all of us. I am very very happy. ;)
I need to look into getting an electronic scope.... it is the wave of the whackers of the future....

I did not want to use the word "cheap" to descibe a Littmann.

It's just a name, really, I've had three dollar scopes w/ acoustic single heads that work out better than any of my expensive ones. My father bought me one when I was 16, it is probably still in the box somewhere back home. I liked my single head nurse scope, it was 'rural road compatible'.

Yeah but everyone Ive talked to have given a good recommendation for a Littman. They are popular because appearently they work really well for the consumer. If the product was bad from the begining I dont think we would be buying littmans, I think we would be buying something else.

Maybe it ain't all Jon's fault then
But, Getting back on topic... Is there any such thing as a low priced Littmann???
( although the Classic II S.E. I use was free, so maybe the answer could be yes )

eBay
But remember, the scopes value is only as good as the user. Price can't make you realize what you're supposed to be hearing.
