? about ITLS

I just joined this site, howdy, and this'll be my first post here. Sorry if this has been covered on another post somewhere, so just point me in the right direction if it is. My question is dealing solely with trauma. I'm an EMT-B/EMT-I student. I just got my ITLS cert about a month ago and was told this is becoming the "new standard" for trauma care. So what is it that ITLS is replacing? Is it just BTLS? From what I have read I'd still need ATLS and PHTLS. Is this correct?

I'm not trying to go credential hunting, but I'm thinking I want to eventually go into a trauma specialty, so I'm asking along the lines of getting what I'd need for a well-rounded resume down the road.

And this is kinda off topic, but what's the difference between PALS and PEPP?

PHTLS is an optional add on. ATLS is aimed at Doctors.

Nothing wrong with showing ambition, but trauma speciality in what profession, EMS? Not really much to it, even at the advanced level.

And this is kinda off topic, but what's the difference between PALS and PEPP?

PEPP is geared more towards EMS, whereas PALS takes the group approach more suited to the in-hospital environment.

AMLS is one of the better alphabet soup classes to take, and one of the few that actually gets you to think about your patient, not just memorize algorithms.

I could've clarified that a little better. I'm a certified EMT-B, but am currently taking the EMT-I class.

ITLS is the new name for BTLS. ITLS and PHTLS are essesntially the same. They are both sponsored by the American College of Surgeons. ATLS is for MD's/DO's. You can audit the class, you just can't take the lab.

PEPP is sponsored American Academy of Pediatrics as well. PEPP is PALS with trauma.
